Duncan

I painted this for my friend Gaye for a Father's Day gift for her husband.  Duncan and Bob play ball all the time, so this is from a really special photo of him on the beach with his glove.
Happy Father's Day Bob!

Sweet Matthew

My friend Jennifer had this painted for her friend Tracie whose son was born with Adenylosuccinate Lyase Deficiency, a rare autosomal recessive genetic metabolic disorder with only 60 cases reported world wide. Matthew was only the 2nd case in the US and the first case for Duke. Currently there is no familial support, research, testing, treatment or cure.  Follow the Facebook link for The Miracle of Matthew to join their cause for a cure.
Blessings and Peace to you and your family, Tracie!

White Petunias

I really like the way the sun was hitting these flowers the day I took the photo.  I really wanted to capture the dappled sunlight on the pavement and on the corner of the porch.

First Sunday- Pittsboro

Yesterday we went to Pittsboro, NC for their First Sunday.  First Sunday takes place on the first Sunday of each month. All the retailers along Hillsboro Street are open from noon to 4 p.m.  Craftspeople and vendors set up shop on the sidewalks, and there's live music.

We discovered several cute shops, like the Urban SamplerVespertine, and French Conections

We also stopped in to The City Tap for a quick bite- we had the BEST nachos!   The couple who own's it were super nice- both artists.  Very cool decor and art!

We visited the Chatham Arts Council gallery and saw some fun and funky "bras" that are getting ready to be raffled off.
As usual, I found some artisans and crafts-people who's work I adored!   The first was Heather Gerni of Tangled and True.  Really cute earrings, pendants, bobbies, magnets, and art.  I walked away with some earrings and a scrabble pendant!

We also stopped at, and bought a bracelet at, an Amani Beads booth.  Amani Beads are from the Amani Children's Foundation.  The beads are made from the clay of Mt. Kenya by women at a fair-trade business in Kenya, and shaped into jewelry by volunteers in the US.  The proceeds go back to care for the babies in Kenya.

It was a lovely day discovering Pittsboro!

7th Annual Celebration of the Arts

Today we spent the afternoon in Fuquay-Varina, NC, for their 7th Annual Celebration of the Arts.  There were a few artisans of note that I wanted to send out, although we didn't bring home any of the treasures we saw today~
Blue Lace Agate Necklace -- Surfing
The first is Leigh Griffen of Araleigh Studios.  Absolutely beautiful contemporary-styled jewelry hand crafted with gemstones, sterling silver and copper.  Very stunning and unique!
The other is Sherri Bessette of Jeepers Creepers- no website, but she had some FUN and whimsical pottery, including a wind chime I forgot to go back to get!  I wish I had a picture to post~
It was a hot, but beautiful day!

A Novel Idea

This is from a photo I took while on vacation last year in Kill Devil Hills, NC.  I loved the "composition" of her with her hat and all the stripes in the picture.  Thank goodness she wasn't facing me or she would have thought I was stalking her!
