The Greatest of All

Seems similar to the last painting, but very different.

Peony Dream

I was painting this was at the same time as the previous painting. I thought I'd finished it, but after looking at it for several days, decided I was NOT happy with it at all!  I tried to go really simple, but it just was too blank.  I started to add layers to this one as well, with finishes in between the layers, and it came out with this awesome depth!  The flowers are almost floating on the canvas- a must see in person!

Renewal

Here's another example of a photo not doing the painting justice!  The was a multi-layered painting where I experimented with some different finishing techniques.  The outcome was a "floating" layer effect with a "glass like" finish.

A New Day

This was based on a photo from a sunrise at Second Street in Kill Devil Hills.  It started out to be a painting in my usual impressionistic style, but morphed into something totally different!

Glorious Unfolding

Expressionistic???  Abstract???  I'm not really sure how to classify the works that I'm going to be posting over the next few days!  Some of them were driven by texture and color, while others seem to come from a place within that just "had to come out"!

This piece was a little bit of both~ A photo doesn't quite give you the full effect of viewing it in person.  It changes depending on where you stand to look at it.  I absolutely loved painting this and enjoyed the process!
