Summer Gallery 2009

August 2009

“Alex”
This is my favorite painting so far! I used a photo of my son, Alex, from our summer vacation in the Outer Banks, NC, in 2005. He was searching for sand crabs (sand fleas) at the waters edge. It reminds me of our summer vacation’s spent each year in Nags Head, NC.
10" x 8" acrylic on canvas

“Peonies”
I staged a composition on my front porch with some peonies in the spring when they were in bloom. Peonies are my favorite flower and I really wanted to capture the beauty of them in a painting. I especially liked the way the glass vase turned out.
9" x 12" acrylic on canvas
SOLD

“Catherine’s Beach Lady”
This was from a photo that Cathy Martin had taken.  I enjoyed this one because of the use of various colors and keeping the values correct- a difficult process!
16" x 20" acrylic on canvas
$200

“Magnolia Breeze Porch”
This is a painting of my home- I added our cat Tigger to the porch as a special feature because he is almost 18 years old and we’re blessed to have him around!

July 2009
“Beth and Rick- Wedding in St. Lucia”
This is a painting from a wedding photo of my friend Beth Brown-Green from her wedding in St. Lucia to Rick Green. It’s a very special painting for me because it was the first one I gave as a gift.

“Victorian Summer Cottage”
This is a painting of a 1915 Victorian Summer Cottage in Mt. Pleasant, SC. I started it in May and finished in June.

April 2009
“The Abbaye”
This was my first painting at The Red Canvas with Catherine Martin. It was from a photo she had of the The Abbaye at Senanque.
